Last night, the people at the Amsterdam ArenA cried three times.
First, for the remembrance of the beloved Amsterdam mayor, Dhr. Eberhard van der Laan, passed away prematurely after fighting against cancer. “The premier that Netherlands has never had”, to cite a friend of mine.
Second, for the missed qualification for the final round of Russia 2018, the World Cup that Dutch people will enjoy from the gezelligheid of their bruin cafés.
And last but not least, for the retirement from the National team of a rare talented player, as rare are the legends that walked the Bijlmer locker rooms. And for which the Oranje supporters will have to wait a long time.
Dames en heren, Arjen Robben.
